The short story below was written by my granddaughter, Kayla. She has written other stories and is talented in drawing
as well. One of her stories was chosen last year to be read in a district
wide school assembly. She also plays soccer, softball and takes dance classes
and loves the computer. We are working on a background together
that will be placed on this site.
~And Now On To The Short Story~
Sarah's Grandma
Once upon a time a little girl named Sarah had a grandma. Her grandma
wasn't the kind of grandma you would often see. Her grandma was a kind person
but other people didn't think so. They didn't think so because of the way
Sarah's grandma walked, talked and the way her house looked. They didn't
like the way her house looked because there were trees everywhere and on
the outside of her house it didn't look like it was taken care of. Sarah's
grandma didn't take care of her house because she was a witch and witches
don't take care of their yards.
Sarah's grandma could do witchcraft. One day Sarah went over to her grandma's
house and asked her grandma if she could show her how to do some witchcraft.
Her grandma said, "Well if you really want to know how to do witchcraft then
I'll teach you, if it's alright with your mom." So Sarah asked her mom and
her mom said it was all right. Sarah's grandma taught her until midnight.
The next day Sarah was using her powers all day long. Finally Sarah stopped
using her powers and went to sleep. She didn't need to eat breakfast, lunch
or dinner because she used her powers to make breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Sarah went over to her grandma's house again to show her how good she
could do with her powers. Sarah's grandma said, "Since you are doing so good
with your powers I will show you how to make spells and how to use them."
Sarah thought she could learn how to do spells pretty quickly; but magic
was harder then she had thought it would be. Sarah's grandma told her how
to make her own spells. Then her grandma told her she would watch her while
she was making potions for a spell to make sure she didn't make any mistakes.
Sarah put a little bit of snake tails, bat's eyes and worm's bodies into
the big, black pot and stirred and stirred and stirred. Then her grandma
said she should let it sit overnight and see what happens.
All night long the potion bubbled and bubbled until it was ready to use
for the spell. It took Sarah about an hour after arriving at her grandmas,
to think of a spell. Sarah put a spell on herself. The spell was to get better
grades in school. Sarah was going to go back to school today so she could
test the spell and see if it worked. Whenever Sarah got to school she found
out she was going to have a test. She got very excited. Before the test she
said the spell and it worked. Sarah got an A+. From then on Sarah knew she
would get a good grade if she used her powers and from then on Sarah used
her powers even if she wasn't at school. She always used them.
